Kenyatta University to Build a state of the art Business Centre

KENYATTA UNIVERSITY will construct a multimillion shilling business centre dubbed Uni-City at the main campus.
The project will be implemented in three major phases.
The first phase will see the construction of a hyper market͵retail shops͵banks and Atms͵ a petrol station and a spacious car park.
A convention centre͵ a hotel and a recreation park will be built in the second phase while an office block and an apartment will be constructed in the third phase.
The Uni-City will be next to three major transport networks including a railwayline, Thika Superhighway and
the Northern and Eastern bypasses.
Speaking yesterday during the ground-breaking ceremony, KU chancellor Benson Wairegi said the Uni-City will stimulate economic growth through increased tax revenues.
The institution will partner with the private sector for capacity building.
National Oil Corporation͵Uchumi supermarket͵Galitos restaurant are among the partners.
Vice chancellor Olive Mugenda has encouraged private investors to take advantage of the second and third phases of the project.
She lauded the university council for their support in development projects as well as the government for approving an exit from the Thika superhighway to access the proposed Uni-City.
Mugenda lashed out at her critics on her continous construction projects saying that the initial plan of the institution was not designed to be a university adding that the university can not achieve its goals without the right infrastructure.
