Is it true that lecturers frustrate masters and postgraduate studnets in general?

In the years past, a masters degree students could take even four or five years to graduate, but that has now been shortened for most students, as they take three years on the maximum. Obviously, some lecturers may be out to frustrate the students under them, but such cases are becoming rarer by the day. Equally, some masters students are also working, and they may not concentrate fully on their studies, and therefore break
down the lecturer- student relationship. The long short is that these days at least, most postgraduate students in both public and private universities graduate within the stipulated time.
