We are selfish in trying to claim Arnold Origi.

That African teams performed poorly in the recent World Cup is no
secret. At this trend, it will take ages before any African team wins
the World Cup. However, for many Kenyans, Arnold Origi was the new kid
on the block. The son of Kenyan international Mike Okoth, Mr. Origi
has the talent and temerity to shine in top flight European football.
Even though Belgium was eliminated by Argentina, Mr. Origi's talents
shown through, and he could be headed to top flight English premier
league. Mr.Origi has already attracted a lot of attention from Kenyan
fans, never mind that he is a Belgian, and not Kenyan. Why do we have
this uncanny behavior to celebrate one of our own, even when we have
participated in minimal talent development? Remember Lupita Nyong'o,
no one noticed her when she was at Rusinga School or at the Nairobi
theaters. Even then, why do we seem to have no regard for budding
talent, only waiting for outsiders to develop our talent?
