Wings to fly scholars urged to fly higher- MMU

Multimedia University of Kenya’s Hotel and Conference Centre was the proud host of over 1,200 budding scholars for the Wings To Fly 5th Annual Education and Leadership Congress.

Motivational speakers, various education stake holders and Wings To Fly alumni joined the young ‘scholars’ for encouragement and motivation as they take the next step in their academic journey.

Speaking during the conference on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, Equity CEO and Managing Director Dr. James Mwangi and Equity Group Foundation Managing Director Dr. Helen Gichohi assured the scholars of their continued love and support.

“A great warrior equips himself with a spear, a great leader equips himself with knowledge and wisdom,” noted the CEO while urging the students to make good use of the opportunity to excel in their studies.

Dr. Mwangi further promised to offer employment opportunities to students who will attain a mean grade of A- and above at Equity Bank come 2015.

On his part, Ag. Vice Chancellor Prof. Paul Mbatia welcomed the ‘scholars’ to MMU and congratulated them on their primary school performance that earned them the Wings the Fly scholarships.

“As a teacher, I am proud to know that you are here on account of your good performance in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examinations. Having succeeded once before, I believe you will do so once again in this year’s KCSE,” noted Prof. Mbatia.

His words were echoed by Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Finance and Planning Prof. Rosebella Maranga who also encouraged the students to feel at home during their stay at MMU and to join the University for their post - secondary school education.

The four year beneficiaries are 2014 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates from all parts of the country.
